New Zealand Prepares Troop Deployment; 68 Killed in Iraq

New Zealand is sending as many as 143 security personnel to train Iraq. As with other Coalition troops, the soldiers will not be involved in combat missions.

Clashes in Samarra left 14 soldiers and 23 militants dead.

A bomb in Mahmoudiya left six civilians with injuries.

In Iskandariya, a roadside bomb wounded three soldiers.

A mokhtar was wounded in Baquba when a roadside bomb exploded near his home.

Eleven militants were killed in Baiji.

In al-Baghdadi, seven suicide bombers were killed.

An airstrike killed nine militants in Hawija.

Three militants were killed while trying to plant a bomb on a rural road north of Baquba.
