Fresh Iraq Clashes, Attacks Leave 39 Dead, 15 Wounded

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s State of Law coalition has won at least 92 of the 325 seats at stake in the elections last month, giving him a strong shot at a third term as premier. At least 39 people were killed and 15 more were wounded in today’s attacks.

In Anbar:

In Falluja, the bodies of several militants were found.

Twenty militants were killed in an agricultural section of Amiriyat al-Falluja.

In Garma, six militants were killed.

Gunmen blew up two electrical towers in Jurf al-Sakhar.

Elsewhere:

In Baghdad, five dumped bodies were found in Zaafaraniya. A bomb wounded five people.

Three policemen were wounded in a blast in Mosul. Gunmen stormed a home and killed an air force officer. A bomb killed a soldier and a civilian.

In Dujail, four people were killed and seven more were wounded when several bombs exploded in the al-Sajla district.

A sticky bomb killed a policeman in Husseiniya.
