New Attacks Leave 6 Dead in Iraq

At least six Iraqis were killed and five more were wounded in light violence. Many of the victims were security personnel.

In Shirqat, three Sahwa members were killed and two more were wounded when two bombs exploded near their checkpoint. Later, a separate blast wounded another Sahwa member. An un-detonated bomb was found during a search of the area.

In Mosul, an I.E.D. killed two people and wounded two more, including one child. Gunmen killed a policeman. A kidnapping victim was freed.

Rockets fell on a military base that houses a U.S. consulate in Kirkuk.
