Shi’ite Cleric Among Seven Killed in Iraq

At least seven Iraqis were killed and 15 more were wounded in light violence.

In Baghdad, a blast in a Jamiaa restaurant district last night left two dead and 13 wounded. A Shi’ite cleric was killed in Baladiyat as he exited an Electricity Ministry office.

In Mosul, two suspects were killed as a bomb they were handling exploded. A hand grenade blast wounded a policeman at a checkpoint.

A bomb targeting a patrol near a water plant in al-Baghdadi killed a soldier and policeman, while another soldier was wounded.

A bomb damaged an Interior Ministry vehicle in Samarra but left no casualties.

Near Khalis, a bomb blasted a U.S. patrol vehicle but no casualties were noted. Helicopters responded to the attack.

Nine suspects were captured in Diyala province.
