Thursday: 1 Iraqi Killed, 25 Wounded

The Eid al-Adha holiday continues in Iraq, where at least one Iraqi was killed and 24 more were wounded in new violence. The numbers likely fall short of the real toll as religious observances have cut into the number of reports leaking out of the country. Meanwhile, Christian leaders are worried that a new exodus could spell the end of Christianity in Iraq.

In Baghdad yesterday, a prison riot left 20 detainees wounded while 30 others escaped. Two civilians were wounded by a blast in Jisr Diyala.

A bomb planted on a farm south of Baquba killed one man, who was also a Sahwa member. In town, two people were wounded in another bomb attack. A security operation netted three more suspects.

A roadside bomb blast wounded a Sahwa member in Baiji.

Police in Zubayr captured a gang that confessed to killing women.

Ten suspects were arrested in Basra province.
