At least three Iraqis were killed and 11 more were wounded in the latest attacks. One U.S. soldier was killed in Mosul during a mortar attack. Also, Baghdad police said 12 previously unreported bodies were found in Baghdad during February. Meanwhile, the U.S. military said that it was about halfway through its goal of transferring 26,000 Iraqi detainees to Iraqi authorities.
In Baghdad, a roadside bomb wounded two people in southeastern Baghdad. A bomb left no casualties at the Allawi bus station. A body was found chopped to pieces. Also police admitted that 12 unidentified bodies were recovered across Baghdad during the last month.
In Baquba, eight people were injured during a roadside bombing. Five suspects were detained.
Gunmen in Mosul killed a civilian. No casualties were reported after several rockets struck a U.S. base.
In Kirkuk, a sheikh was killed as he was trying to prevent the kidnapping of his son. Five suspects were captured. A joint U.S.-Iraqi security team found a weapons cache. Two rocket launch pads were discovered.
One Iraqi soldier was killed and another was wounded in Balad Ruz.
Clashes broke out near Kut. One policeman was killed.
Eight followers of Shi’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr were freed in Babel province after they were cleared of any wrongdoing.
Two hostages were liberated in Khalis.
Several Katyusha rockets were found in Khanaqin.
A large weapons cache was found near Fallujah. Also, 18 missile pads were found.
A large cache of ammunition and C4 explosives was found in Hilla.
A large cache of C4 explosives was found in Dhi Qar province.
A weapons cache was found near Nasariya.
Fourteen suspects were detained in Suleimaniya.
Six suspects were arrested in Basra.
