During attacks mostly directed at Iraqi security forces, 73 Iraqis were killed and 149 more were wounded. Turkey shelled Kurdish locations inside Iraq again, but no casualties were reported. Two American servicemembers were also reported killed.
An MND-B soldier was killed and another was wounded during combat operations today in southern Baghdad. An MND-North soldier was killed and a second was injured in Diyala province yesterday during combat there.
A suicide truck bomber killed 14 policemen and wounded 42 more at a police station in Tikrit.
In Baghdad, the leader of the Shi’ite Dialogue Faction, Jawdet Kadhem al-Obeidi was killed and his driver wounded in a drive-by shooting in a western suburb. A car bomb at a Bayaa area petrol station killed one person and wounded six others. A few minutes later in Saidiya a separate car bomb killed one person and wounded eight others. Also in Saidiya, a coffin bomb containing an unidentified body exploded and wounded four policemen. A car bomb targeting a U.S. patrol instead killed three Iraqis and wounded five more. Clashing, which involved U.S. troops, occurred in the Fidhiliyah area; five people were killed and 19 wounded. Also, 15 corpses were discovered.
In Suleiman Bek, a roadside bomb killed one Iraqi solider and wounded six others.
A roadside bomb near a Balad Ruz petrol station killed one person and sounded six others.
Three civilians were wounded in Hawija when a roadside bomb targeting a police patrol injured them instead.
South of Baquba, a suicide bomber killed two policemen and wounded three others at a police station.
One civilian and two policemen were killed in separate attacks in Khalis.
Seven more wounded were reported in yesterday’s attack at Camp Bucca.
Two bodies were found in Amiriyat al-Fallujah. The town is under a curfew due to increasing violence.
U.S. helicopters fired upon and killed eight suspects south of Baquba at Khanan.
A man was wounded while driving through Kirkuk last night.
