Fighting Moves East as 251 Are Killed in Iraq

An arrest warrant has been issued for Trade Minister Malas Abdulkarim al-Kasnazani. He and his brother are accused of corruption.

Security forces that include a significant number of Sunni tribal fighters have launched a new operation that is targeting Hawija.

At least 251 were killed and 34 were wounded:

In Mosul, 10 police officers were executed. Five militants were killed in airstrikes.

Gunmen killed a senior official of the integrity committee in Kirkuk.

In Baghdad, one person was killed and eight were wounded in a blast in the Wahda neighborhood. A blast wounded nine people in Kraat.

Mortars killed five militiamen and wounded eight in the Hamrin Mountains. Security forces killed 25 militants.

In Baghdadi, 125 militants were killed during security operations.

Thirty militants were killed in Rashad.

In Fatha, 20 militants were killed.

Eighteen militants were killed in Kasak.

Seven militants were killed and nine were wounded in Albu Shejil.

An airstrike on Tal Afar killed four militants, including a sharia judge.
