At least 97 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 71 more were wounded during the latest violence, which includes an attack on a wedding in Tal Afar. Also, a U.S. soldier was killed during a rocket attack east of Baghdad.
In Baghdad, a Reuters’s photographer and driver were killed in the crossfire between U.S. forces and militants in the eastern al-Amin neighborhood. According to police sources, another 17 people were killed and 21 wounded during the fighting. Police freed an al-Qaeda hostage and recovered 100 stolen vehicles. A sniper killed a policeman in Adhamiya. Three civilians were injured during a roadside bomb in Saidiya, where armed clashes are also taking place. A policeman was killed and two others were wounded when a roadside bomb blew up in Doura. A roadside bomb wounded a civilian in Za’afaraniyah. Gunmen fired upon a family moving to the Jihad district, injuring one. Also, 28 bodies were found scattered in different neighborhoods.
A suicide bomber killed seven guests and wounded four more at a Tal Afar wedding. The bride and groom were unhurt.
In Diwaniya, a U.S. airstrike killed five militiamen who were planting a bomb. Hospital and police reported that five civilians were also killed. An Iraqi soldier and a civilian were killed during clashes.
A car bomb killed two and wounded ten in Mosul. Three bodies were turned in to the morgue. A fourth body, which was also handed over, belonged to a Kurd citizen already reported killed by U.S. troops yesterday. Three people were wounded in a roadside bomb attack, and two others were wounded in a separate mortar attack.
Two people were killed and eight were wounded at a police recruitment center in Fallujah.
Gunmen attacked a car in Karbala, killing four and wounding two members of the same family.
U.S. forces killed four and wounded an unspecified number of people during an airstrike in Samarra.
