At least 16 Iraqis were killed and 64 more were wounded today, most of them during a rare bombing in Basra.
About 12 people were killed and 62 more were wounded in a triple bombing in central Basra. Three explosives-laden motorbikes were detonated in unison outside three cafés. Several people are in critical condition. An even greater threat to Basra is the potential poisoning of its water supply by a ruptured oil pipeline.
In Mosul, a roadside bomb killed two civilians. A separate blast wounded a child.
In Baghdad, gunmen killed a staff member belonging to M.P. Mustafa Shaaban’s office.
A sticky bomb killed a vegetable vendor and wounded his daughter in Kirkuk.
