Pre-election violence occurred in Iraqi Kurdistan took attention away from the usual violence across the rest of Iraq. At least 18 Iraqis were killed and 45 more were wounded.

Baghdad was the scene of a significant bombing at a Shi’ite mosque. Meanwhile, gunmen terrorized Mosul. At least 66 people were killed and 77 more were wounded in these and other attacks.

The violence shifted back east into Diyala province where several bombings targeted civilians. Another family was killed south of the capital where gunmen have taken up storming homes. At least 36 people were killed and 69 more were wounded.

At least 25 people were killed and 28 more were wounded in attacks that focused on security forces.

Today, at least 19 people were killed in ongoing attacks, while another 23 were wounded.

Thirteen Iraqis were killed today, while the remains of 80 Kurds killed during the 1980s in the Anfal campaign were discovered in a mass grave.

At least four Iraqis were killed and 10 more were wounded in newly reported attacks. In Iraqi Kurdistan, rare political violence occurred today and earlier this week. Elections will take place there later this month.

At least 16 people were killed and 44 more were wounded in fresh attacks. Kirkuk suffered three bomb attacks alone.

The Justice Ministry announced the executions of three men convicted on terrorism charges. In today’s attacks, at least 40 Iraqis were killed and 55 more were wounded.

Car bombers struck en masse in and around the capital again today. Overall, at least 80 people were killed and 236 more were wounded across the country.
