Ignoring calls to end capital punishment, Iraq executed six more convicts today. Fortunately, no other deaths were reported, but three people were wounded in Falluja. Also, Turkish warplanes staged strikes on suspected P.K.K. sites in northern Iraq.

Iraq conducted a mass execution in which eleven people were put to death. Ten of the individuals were Iraqi, but the last one was from Algeria. Another Iraqi was killed in an attack south of Baghdad. At least eight people were also wounded.

New attacks left at least 10 dead and 24 injured across Iraq.

Few attacks took place today. Nevertheless, at least nine people were killed in them, and another 28 were wounded.

Six Iraqis were executed today, while another five were killed in other violence. Fourteen more were wounded as well. Also, a U.S. citizen of Palestinian descent has been sentenced to life in prison in Iraq.

At least eight Iraqis were killed and five more were wounded today. Also, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said Iraq will terminate Turkey’s presence in northern Iraq.

The Iraqi government released its official casualty figures for September. At 365 dead, the toll is the highest in two years. Meanwhile, insurgents began adding to the October toll. New attacks left at least 23 killed and 16 wounded today.

The relative calm of the last several days was broken this morning when a series of obviously coordinated attacks took place across Iraq. The targets were varied today. Security personnel, Shi’ite pilgrims and civilians were all among the casualties. At least 41 Iraqis were killed and 143 more were wounded. Seven Iranians were also injured in one of the attacks south of Baghdad. A Shi’ite lawmaker, Hakim al-Zamili, who is also on parliament’s defense and security committee, said the coordinated attacks meant that al-Qaeda in Iraq is still in business.

At least 10 Iraqis were killed and 17 more were wounded in new violence. Among the dead were a mosque preacher and Yazidi citizens. A curfew remains in effect as security forces scour the Tikrit area for detainees who escaped in Thursday’s jailbreak.
