Attacks across Iraq left at least 42 dead and 90 wounded. Most of the casualties occurred in Baghdad where bombers focused on police and Shi’ite targets.
Two mass graves were found in Iraq this week, both of them in the western province of Anbar. Meanwhile, at least eight Iraqis were killed and 14 more were wounded in new violence.
A double bombing rattled a Shi’ite neighborhood in Baghdad today. It was one of several bombing attacks in the capital. Bombs exploded elsewhere as well, while gunmen were able to kill a few more Iraqis. Overall, at least 24 Iraqis were killed and 36 more were wounded across the country.
Although Christians feel safer in the northern parts of the country, they remain targets for religious violence almost anywhere in Iraq. Today, one man found that out when gunmen wounded him in the northern city of Mosul. Altogether, one woman was killed while nine other Iraqis were wounded in separate attacks. Meanwhile, news has been very light this weekend due to the holidays.
Only small attacks were reported today, many of them targeting security forces. At least eight Iraqis were killed in them, and another eight were wounded.
Although few attacks were reported today, a pair of bombings in Baghdad left dozens of casualties. At least eight Iraqis were killed in them and in an assassination in Yathrib. Another 35 Iraqis were wounded.
At least seven Iraqis were killed and 39 more were wounded in violence across the country. Five Iranian pilgrims were also wounded during one attack. Also, Turkey’s parliament voted to continue bombing suspected Kurdish rebel camps in northern Iraq.
At least five Iraqis were killed and 16 more were wounded in attacks across central and northern Iraq.
In the most outrageous attack of the day, gunmen in police uniforms entered a government complex in Anbar province where they killed almost a dozen hostages before being killed themselves. Including that attack, at least 31 Iraqis were killed and 37 more were wounded across the country.
At least 10 Iraqis were killed and 10 more were wounded in new violence. Most of the known attacks occurred in Diyala province or Mosul, while no incidents were reported in Baghdad.
