At least 33 Iraqis were killed and 131 were wounded in a series of attacks in central and northern Iraq. A retaliatory attack against a Sunni funeral took place in Baghdad while bombing against civilians and security personnel took place in the north.

At least 109 people were killed and 173 more were wounded today, mostly in two brazen attacks. In the worst assault, suicide bombers targeted a funeral in heavily populated Sadr City. Suicide bombers, these wearing police uniforms, also took advantage of a national police station in the north, as the commandos were out on maneuvers.

A mosque, where a bombing set off sectarian violence in 2006, suffered the worst of today’s violence. Overall, at least 30 Iraqis were killed and 52 more were wounded.

Few attacks occurred again today, but they resulted in more casualties. Also, dumped bodies were found in Baghdad, but it is unclear when they were killed. Overall, at least 29 people were killed and 54 were wounded.

t least eight people were killed and 53 more were wounded in new violence. Fewer attacks occurred today, and they were light on fatalities.

At least 69 people were killed and 151 more wounded when bombings returned to Baghdad and several neighboring cities and town. Gunmen also took a toll across the country.

The violence tapered off today, at least around Baghdad. Today’s attacks focused, instead, on Mosul. At least 24 people were killed in them, and another 23 were wounded.

Updated at 4:35 p.m. EDT, Sept. 16, 2013 The start of the workweek began with a series of bombings across Baghdad and the Shi’ite south. At least 90 people were killed and 227 more were wounded. Shootings and bombing also took place throughout the country, but most of the casualties occurred south of the capital.

Members of the Shabak ethnic minority group were killed in two separate incidents in northern Iraq. Across the country at least 46 Iraqis were killed and 67 more were wounded.

Bombers returned to Diyala province where they attacked mosques in the Adhaim and Qara Tapa areas. More bombings and clashes took place elsewhere. At least 57 were killed and 78 more were wounded.
