I’m feeling a bit out of sorts today – actually, quite rocky – so what you’re reading isn’t an actual column. However, I just want to note for the record that the big story everyone is talking about – the New York Times piece detailing the real on-the-ground story of what happened in Benghazi – was prefigured in this space: see here, here, here, and here. As the Times reports, and I maintained all along, the attack on the "consulate" and the CIA compound was indeed connected to the "Innocence" video that went viral in the region shortly before the death of Ambassador Stevens.
Furthermore, it was apparent from the beginning that the assailants had zero to do with Al Qaeda, but rather were affiliated with indigenous independent militias as well as elements within the government itself: but it took "months of investigation by the New York Times" for the world to finally acknowledge it. Our readers, I’m proud to say, didn’t have to wait that long.
