Saturday: 5 Iraqis Killed, 18 Wounded

At least five Iraqis were killed and 14 more were wounded in the latest violence. Demonstrations continue in Baghdad, Basra, and other locations, but today’s hotspot is again Suleimaniya, where demonstrations turned deadly on Thursday. Turmoil throughout the Arab region could halt plans for an Arab League summit scheduled for March. Iraq is looking forward to hosting the summit as evidence of improving conditions there.

Monday: US Soldier, 10 Iraqis Killed; 28 Iraqis Wounded

Updated at 8:25 p.m. EDT, Sept. 27, 2010 As if the political deadlock over the premiership did not already stoke sectarian tensions in Iraq, the Interior Ministry has now ordered the demotions of hundreds of Sunni police officers. Meanwhile, the violence continues. At least 10 Iraqis were killed and 28 more were wounded across the country. Meanwhile a U.S. soldier was killed in a vehicle rollover in Kuwait, and a sniper wounded a U.S. soldier in Amara.

Thursday: 14 Iraqis Killed, 42 Wounded

Updated at 6:02 p.m. EDT, June 3, 2010 At least 14 Iraqis were killed and 42 more were wounded in the latest attacks and in a mass grave discovered near the capital. Also, the PKK, which has sought to give Kurds an independent country have ended their unilateral truce with Turkey.
