Protests took place throughout the country again, while a major bombing took place in Muqdadiya. At least 21 Iraqis were killed in the new violence and protests. Another 100 Iraqis and 10 Iranians were wounded. One U.S. soldier also died, two days ago in a non-combat incident in Baghdad province.

The mass protests against poor services and corruption continued today, including one that left a significant number of casualties in southern Iraq. At least six Iraqis were killed across the country in new violence or demonstrations while 59 more were wounded. In Europe, British and Swiss researchers studying Iraq’s war dead have discovered a disturbingly high proportion of civilians deaths from Coalition operations.
At least eight Iraqis were killed and 12 more were wounded in new violence, while two mass graves were discovered in Diyala province. Back in Germany, an Iraqi defector codenamed Curveball has admitted to lying about weapons of mass destruction. A lie that lead to the Iraq war.
At least one Iraqi was killed and four more were wounded in light violence. Meanwhile, Iraqis by the thousands came out in Baghdad to protest poor services and government corruption. The demonstration came only a day after the first reported self-immolation in the country and after several protests in recent weeks. In response, the Iraqi government has canceled a purchase of F-16 fighter jets and is diverting that money to improving food rations.

At least 50 Iraqis were killed and 83 more were wounded in news attacks. The lion’s share of casualties occurred in Samarra where Shi’ite pilgrims are gathering to observe the anniversary of the death of Hasan al-Askari.
At least five Iraqis were killed and 13 were wounded in new attacks, while a remnant from the height of sectarian violence, a mass grave, was discovered containing 153 decayed bodies. Also, demonstrations against meager food rations and electricity shortages continued across Iraq.
Attacks in north and central Iraq have left at least 11 Iraqis dead and 50 wounded. A National Alliance legislator has asked for another sweep of Ba’ath Party loyalists from security forces.
A significant attack in Kirkuk may have shook the country today and reminded the world of Iraq’s continuing violence, but it is the amount of chronic corruption within government that perhaps has even more Iraqis rattled. At least 14 Iraqis were killed in attacks across the country and 121 more were wounded.
Amnesty International released a report stating that Iraq routinely tortures detainees in secret prisons. Meanwhile, at least four Iraqis were killed and seven more were wounded in reported violence.
