Sunni Parliament Speaker Criticizes Maliki Admin. Over Abuses; 4 Killed in Iraq Attacks

At the risk of antagonizing Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, Sunni Parliamentary Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi came out against some of the excesses of the current administration. Meanwhile, at least four Iraqis were killed and 14 more were wounded in the latest violence.

Tuesday: 14 Iraqis Killed, 45 Wounded

Updated at 7:30 p.m. EDT, Oct. 6, 2009 At least 14 Iraqis were killed and 45 more were wounded in today’s violence. The attacks included one in Anbar province, where assaults are once again becoming frequent. Not only are some Iraqis there turning their backs on the Coalition, a new operation in Ninewa could be forcing gunmen to flee to other provinces.
