Bombers resumed their campaign in Baghdad where at least six bombs were detonated today. Overall, at least 50 people were killed and 92 more were wounded, mostly civilians.

At least 107 people were killed today. Except for one, the dead were all militants. Another 14 were wounded.

At least 109 people were killed today, and another 148 were wounded. A large clash between Peshmerga forces and Islamic State militants near Kirkuk left many casualties, as did bombs in Baghdad.

A second grand ayatollah has come out against Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki retaining his premiership, while the U.N. high commissioner called for a political solution. The fighting goes on, though. At least 51 were killed and 43 more were wounded, but dozens more casualties went uncounted. 

Parliament was able to begin forming the new government today; however, there is still much to do before it can function. Meanwhile, at least 233 people were killed, mostly militants, and 185 were wounded, mostly civilians and security volunteers.

Monday was Republic Day in Iraq. The holiday commemorates the 1958 revolution. At least 215 people were reported killed and 34 more were wounded.

Despite a Sunni attempt to move forward in creating a new government, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki effectively destroyed hope for a quick resolution. Without a solid government in place and strong leadership for the military forces, Iraq will certainly fall further into chaos. At least 105 people died today and 39 more were injured.

In a positive sign that the politics may be moving forward, the Sunni political bloc announced their candidate for the speaker's post. Meanwhile, at least 323 people were killed today and 43 more were wounded. Almost 200 militants were killed during major operations...

Human Rights Watch has documented the illegal executions of 255 Sunni prisoners in northern Iraq. Another 96 people were killed today, and 68 more were wounded.

Tensions between Baghdad and Arbil continued to escalate as 151 people were killed and 86 more were wounded. The number of dead is likely higher because the bodies of dozens of fighters are arriving at the Najaf cemetery on a daily basis now. Baghdad has been tight with casualty numbers concerning its fighting troops.
