Intense Shelling in Garma; 51 Killed in Iraq

Intense shelling is driving residents out of Garma. The military is peppering the city just east of Baghdad as a precursor to freeing it from militant control.

At least 51 were killed and 13 more were wounded in violence:

A bomb in Mahmoudiya left three dead and nine wounded at a souk.

Two tribal fighters were killed and three were wounded by a blast in Madaen.

In Baghdad, three unidentified bodies were found. Six militants were killed in an operation in Arab Jabour.

In Mosul, militants executed three people who had run for parliament.

Fifteen militants were killed during an operation in Baiji.

Security forces killed 15 militants in Malahma.

Five militants were killed in Garma.

Security forces in al-Ghribaween killed one militant and wounded another.

An unknown number of militants were killed when Peshmerga units and Coalition fighters destroyed a militant weapons depot in Kesk.
