Baiji Refinery in Peril, 106 Killed across Iraq

Troops at the refinery in Baiji are begging for help. The refinery is again surrounded by Islamic State militants, and the men stationed there are running out of supplies. Some reinforcements did arrive on Monday. The refinery is of strategic importance to the militants and fighting has been intense there, on and off, for several months.

At least 106 were killed and 35 were wounded:

A suicide bomber killed three soldiers and wounded five more. Fifteen militants were killed.

Clashes in Garma left 13 security members and 10 militants dead. Eighteen militants were wounded.

Three people were killed and five were wounded by Iraqi artillery fire in Falluja.

Near Rashad, a roadside bomb killed two women and wounded six others from the same family.

In Baghdad, a dumped body was found.

A young man was flogged in Zab for wearing a shirt bearing foreign marks.

Airstrikes in Baiji and Shirqat left 45 militants dead.

Nine militants were killed in an airstrike on Khalidiya.

Four bombers were killed at a checkpoint in Haqlaniya.
