285 Killed Across Iraq As Badr Brigades Refuse To Leave Kurdish Region

At least 285 people were killed and 43 more were wounded across Iraq. The Badr Brigades warned they would not leave newly recaptured Saidiya a couple days after Peshmerga troops asked them to.

The Badr Brigades claimed that Peshmerga forces did not help liberate Saidiya over the weekend, but Iranian forces supported them instead. After the battles there and in Jalawla, the Peshmerga asked the Shi’ite militant group to handover control of Saidiya, which is in a Kurdish area claimed by both Baghdad and Arbil. Hadi Ameri, head of the Brigades in the area says they have already committed to a joint security patrol with the Kurds and won’t be leaving.

In Ramadi, militants executed 76 tribesmen from the Albu Ali al-Jassem, Albu Fahd, Albu Mahal tribes. Authorities said that many militants were killed during battles.

A bomb in Sadr City killed seven people and wounded 15 more.

In Baghdad, a bomb killed five people and wounded eight more. A roadside bomb wounded a civilian. A dumped body was found. A civilian was killed.

Militants in Ishaqi killed a civilian and wounded 13 more.

Two volunteer fighters were wounded in a blast in Saidiya. Four militants were killed.

In Jurf al-Sakhar, mortars killed a soldier and wounded two more.

Sources reported that militants blew up the prison in Badush, that ISIS/DAASH had taken over and used for themselves.

A Sufi shrine in Daquq was also destroyed.

Kurdish forces killed 124 militants during wide-scale operations near the Mosul Dam. Most of the militants were Uzbek and Chechen nationals. At least seven of their leaders were killed. Two Peshmerga fighters were wounded.

Thirty militants were killed during operations in near Kirkuk and Moltaqa.

An airstrike killed 23 militants, including a leader, in Hit. Unidentified gunmen killed two militants. A number of villages in the area were liberated.

In the Qara Tapa and Jalawla area, eight militants were killed as forces liberated several villages.

A militant leader and two brothers were killed in Qayara during an airstrike.

Peshmerga forces killed a militant man who was dressed as a woman, near Mt. Zerdek.

Peshmerga forces killed several militants as they recaptured Tal Ward a day after the village fell to militants.

Clashes took place in Baiji.
