140 Killed Across Iraq, Mostly in Airstrikes

The violence eased up on Wednesday, at least for civilians, but at least 140 people were killed. Most of them were militants. Another 22 people were wounded.

Clashes left two volunteers dead and 15 wounded in Samarra. Ten militants were killed near town.

Shelling in Falluja killed two people and wounded four more. Eleven militants were killed in an airstrike. Security forces killed another four.

A civilian was gunned down in Baghdad. An unidentified body was found separately.

An airstrike near Adhaim left 30 militants dead.

In Albu Talha, 15 militants were killed.

Thirteen militants were killed, including an emir, in Mansouriya.

Another 13 were killed in a failed attempt to take over al-Baghdadi.

Near the Mosul Dam, 11 militants were killed in an airstrike.

Peshmerga forces shelled a site in Rabeaa, killing five militants and wounding three more.

An airstrike killed six militants, including an emir, in Duluiya.

At least four suicide bombers and a militant commander were killed near the Baiji Refinery.

In the Thar Thar region, eight militants were killed.

Three militants were killed in Shura, including a commander.

A number of locations in Hit suffered were bombed.

Clashes erupted in Sinjar.

Militants took control of a number of buildings at the University of Falluja, south of the city.
