Iraq Attacks Target Security Forces: 26 Killed, 24 Wounded

At least 26 people were killed and 24 more were wounded during a relative break in the violence. Though, the figures may be low due to the difficulty of reporting from Anbar province.

Militants attacked a police station in Falluja and killed two policemen. Six gunmen were killed in air strikes. Shelling wounded seven civilians.

In Qaim, two gunmen were killed.

A soldier was killed and three more were wounded when a bomb exploded in Rutba.

Five soldiers were killed and four more were wounded when gunmen attacked a checkpoint near Muqdadiya. A Sahwa official was also killed in the attack.

In Balad, a bomb killed two people and wounded three more.

A roadside bomb in Baaj killed a soldier and wounded two more.

Gunmen killed two civilians in Wajihiya.

Kirkuk police found the body of an intelligence officer.

Two soldiers were wounded in Mosul when gunmen attacked their checkpoint.

An I.E.D. in Jurf al-Sakhar wounded two policemen.

In Shura, a bomb wounded a police officer. Three insurgents were killed.
