Iraq Bombings, Shootings Leave 76 Dead and 227 Wounded

Yesterday’s bombing trend continued. Baghdad and nearby regions were the targets of several bombings. In the capital, several bombs were detonated within minutes of each other. Overal, at least 76 people were killed and 227 more were wounded.

In Baghdad, a blast at an outdoor cafe in Shabb left 10 dead and wounded at least 25 others. Three people were killed and 13 more were wounded in a blast in Amin. In Nahrawan, a blast killed two people and wounded three more. Three people were killed and seven more were wounded in a blast in Shurta. Three people were killed and six more were wounded in a bombing in Zayouna. A blast in Ghazaliya left two dead and seven wounded. At least 33 more people were wounded in these or other bombings.

In Baquba a car bomb in an industrial area exploded, killing 13 people and wounding 36 more. A separate bomb at a home killed an eight-year-old and wounded 11 others. Four people were killed and 17 more were wounded in a third bombing.

Four people were killed and 14 more were wounded at a sports field in Madaen. At least three people were killed and 16 more were wounded in this or another bombing.

In Mosul, four policemen were killed and three civilians were wounded in a bombing. Gunmen killed two civilians, one of them a Shabak grocer, at separate locations. Five policemen were wounded in an I.E.D. blast. Five soldiers were gunned down and their bodies were burnt in Shura.

A bomb in Balad left five dead and 21 wounded near a judge’s house.

A former policeman was shot dead in Abbara.

Four people were killed and six more were wounded when a bomb exploded in Gatoun.

An I.E.D. in Garma wounded two people.

In Barwana, a bomb wounded two civilians.
