54 Iraqis Killed As Suicide Bombers Attack Security Posts and Wedding

Overall, at least 54 people were killed and 77 were wounded across Iraq. With the possible exception of two suicide attacks in Ramadi, today’s violence appears to be uncoordinated. Also, the Iraqi government continued a very controversial program targeting militants in predominantly Sunni regions of Iraq.

A continuing and controversial Iraq operation against alleged terrorists netted 181 people across the country. Nine suspects were killed during these raids.

A suicide bomber killed at least 14 people and wounded 10 more at a Ramadi military headquarters; the casualties included civilians. Four policemen were killed and six more were wounded in a suicide attack on their checkpoint near Ramadi Hospital.

Nine people were killed and 27 more were wounded during a suicide bombing in Dujail.

Gunmen killed three Sahwa members and wounded two more in Madaen; another one was wounded.

In Mosul, gunmen killed two soldiers at a checkpoint. Two women were shot to death. A sticky bomb killed a Sunni sheikh and wounded a relative. Two civilians were wounded in a bombing. A bomb wounded four people, including a civilian. An I.E.D. killed two soldiers and wounded a civilian.

A car bombing in Tal Afar killed one policeman and wounded four others.

In Kirkuk, the body of a kidnapped attorney was discovered. Two people were killed and five more were wounded in a car bombing.

The tortured body of a young man was found in a river near Nasariya.

A bomb wounded 10 people at a mosque in Baquba.

In Hammam al-Alil a bomb wounded a policeman and a civilian.

A bomb targeting a police officer in Muqdadiya wounded a bodyguard instead.

A civilian was wounded when bombs exploded at three Tikrit homes belonging to policemen.
