Saturday: 10 Iraqis Killed, 29 Wounded

At least 10 Iraqis were killed and 29 more were wounded in new attacks. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and U.S. Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi met in Baghdad for talks with eight other U.S. politicians, mostly democrats.

Six Iraqis were killed and 10 others were wounded during an attack on a money exchange office and the exchange owner’s home in Baquba. The gunmen got away with about $3.4 million. It’s believed that insurgent groups target such shops in order to fund more activities. A curfew is in effect.

In Baghdad, Twelve people were wounded last night in a blast in Sab’e al-bour. Three policemen were wounded as they tried to defuse a bomb in Doura. Three people were wounded in an explosion in Saidiya last night. Also last night, a policeman was killed in a drive-by shooting in Karrada.

In and around Mosul, a bomb wounded a civilian. Two dumped bodies were discovered at a cemetery. An I.S.I. wali was shot dead.

Twelve suspects were detained in Basra province.

An Anbar councilmember demanded an end to arbitrary detentions.

Rockets fell on a base near Diwaniya but no casualties were reported.
