Thursday: 1 US Soldier, 7 Iraqis Killed; 10 Iraqis Wounded

Final results for the national election have been delayed again. Meanwhile, at least seven Iraqis were killed and 10 more were wounded in the latest violence. Also, one U.S. soldier was killed in combat in Baghdad today.

In Baghdad, seven policemen were wounded when a roadside bomb blasted their patrol in Hurriya. Gunmen killed a taxi driver in Shabb.

In Mosul, gunmen killed a 24-year-old woman in her Mithaq home. A trucker was killed and his son was wounded in a small arms attack. Two boys were wounded as they played with explosives. A policeman was killed during a raid that netted three gunmen.

The bodies of a policeman and a soldier were discovered floating in the Tigris River near Shurqat. The men were kidnapped and decapitated.

Gunmen stormed a Mahmoudiya home and killed a woman. They were looking for a man but killed his sister instead.

A man was arrested while trying to kidnap a child in Fallujah.

An I.E.D. was defused in Karbala.

Police in the Kurdish Autonomous Region will implement a security plan for Nowruz. The holiday marks the Iranian New Year and is usually observed around the spring equinox.

Over 4,000 detainees were transferred from U.S to Iraqi custody since the beginning of 2009, said the director of Iraqi prisons today. The U.S. is obliged to transfer such individuals under a U.S.-Iraq S.O.F.A agreement.
