Sunday: 8 Iraqis Killed, 20 Wounded

At least eight Iraqis were killed and 20 others were wounded in the latest attacks. While attacks in Mosul have seemingly dissipated, reporters appear to have moved to the contested city of Kirkuk. Late in the evening, parliament approved a new elections law.

Gunmen killed four policemen at a checkpoint in Abu Ghraib. A cache containing TNT, cannon balls and other explosives was also found.

In Baghdad, a sticky bomb wounded a civilian in Adhamiya. Two suspects were arrested.

In Kirkuk, an Iraqi soldier was killed in a small arms attack. An explosion wounded two policemen. Gunmen killed a private guard. At least one more person was killed and four more were wounded in separate attacks.

At least six people were wounded or killed in a market blast in Mussayab.

A roadside bomb blast in Rashad killed one Sahwa fighter and wounded three others.

In Mosul, gunmen wounded a policeman. A bomb wounded four people in Zaafaraniyah. A blast near a police station left no casualties.

Police arrested three kidnappers in Kut and liberated the child they had abducted about an hour beforehand.

Basra implemented new security measures ahead of the Shi’ite Eid al-Ghadeer holiday. Fifteen suspects were detained.

A bomb was dismantled near Karbala.

A bomb hidden inside a Quran was discovered near a souk and government buildings in Tal Afar.

Iranian-made rockets were discovered in Suwayra.

Two suspects were captured in Hawija.

A weapons cache was found in Tabaj.

Four suspects were captured in Jalawla.
