Sunday: 5 Iraqis Killed, 21 Wounded

At least five Iraqis were killed 21 more were wounded across the country. One of the dead belonged to a group of escapees. Also, the Iraqi parliament passed a new Victims of Terrorism and Military Operations law.

Ten civilians were wounded when a bomb blew up in Haswa.

In Baghdad, a bomb killed one person and wounded four more in the Mashtal neighborhood. Gunmen in Amin killed a policeman. A fuel truck exploded near the airport, where the blast wounded five guards; the cause is under investigation.

In Mosul, a bomb killed a trucker.

Two bombs wounded two civilians near Nasariya. Another blast left no casualties.

An Awakening Council in Samarra found two of the Tikrit jail escapees. They killed one and detained the other. The dead man was facing the death penalty.

The body of a woman who is believed murdered in an honor killing was discovered in Kirkuk. A Christian was kidnapped in a separate incident.

Twenty suspects were arrested across Basra province.

Two I.E.D.s were defused in separate locations near Amara. Four bombs were found in the city and three suspects were arrested.

The deputy head of the oil products department for Diyala province was arrested. The reason for the arrest was not reported.
