At least 95 Iraqis were killed and 113 injured during a relatively quiet day in Iraq. Also, two American soldiers and one Marine assigned to MNF-West were killed during a combat operation in Anbar province, and a Task Force Lightning soldier was killed during an explosion in Salah ad Din province.
In Baghdad, nine people were killed and 33 were wounded during a car bombing in the Binoog neighborhood. In Neddawi Souk, a car bomb killed two people and wounded 13 more. A civilian was killed during a roadside bombing in Adhamiya; MND-B soldiers then killed three suspects. A sniper killed a policeman in Karrada. Mortar shelling in Doura injured one person. In Bayaa, a mortar attack killed one person and wounded two others. In a separate incident also in Bayaa, gunmen killed two people and wounded three in a drive-by shooting. Three Iraqi security personnel were injured during operations. U.S. troops killed a civilian at the al-Rashid market. Also, 17 bodies were found in several neighborhoods.
Iraqi troops killed 12 militants, including three al-Qaeda suspects, during overnight raids in Mosul. They killed eight others and arrested 99 in operations elsewhere in Iraq. Coalition forces killed one suspect near Koresh.
Three policemen were wounded during an attack in Hawija.
In Diwaniya, a man was killed and two policemen were wounded during the culmination of a demonstration against a pre-dawn airstrike by U.S. troops. Ten people were killed and 25 were wounded in the air strike.
Yesterday in Mosul, gunmen killed a police colonel and his driver. Another policeman was killed in a separate event. A roadside bomb killed a policeman and wounded four people, including two policemen.
Gunmen killed the imam of a Sunni mosque in Kirkuk.
A petrol station in Mishada was blown up, but no casualties were reported.
A suicide bomber blew up his truck bomb while on a bridge over the Euphrates River near Ramadi; two civilians were injured during the incident.
A former Baath party member was killed in Najaf.
Iraqi troops killed five gunmen in Mada’en.
In eastern Diyala province, two senior police officials were killed and three policemen were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle.
