At least 145 Iraqis were killed and 123 more wounded during various attacks. Eight students were kidnapped near Muqdadiyah, and a surgeon was abducted in Mosul. Also, two American servicemembers were killed and four were wounded in separate incidents..
One MND-B soldier was killed and four others were wounded when during a roadside bomb blast in eastern Baghdad. Also, an American soldier was killed in Nasir Lafitah when militants attacked her unit.
In Baghdad, 14 people were killed and 22 wounded during a car bombing in Kazimiyah. A second tribal leader was assassinated yesterday. One man was killed and his son wounded during a drive-by shooting in a southwestern neighborhood. In Western Baghdad, gunmen shot one pilgrim dead and injured five others on a minibus. Four pedestrians were injured during an IED attack on Palestine Street. A suicide car bomber killed one police commando and wounded six others in al-Jaderiyia. A bombing in Suleikh killed three people and wounded 10 others. Three civilians were injured when U.S. forces opened fire on two minibuses in Qadisiya. And, a journalist was killed in a southern neighborhood.
The Iraqi army reported killing 14 suspects and arresting 114 others in Baghdad. They freed three hostages. Eight soldiers were killed and 29 injured during security operations. Witnesses reported seeing a U.S. humvee shoot and kill four civilians and injure four more in Sadr City. Three mortars struck the Green Zone, but no casualties were reported. Also, police found 21 dumped bodies throughout town.
A minibus was stopped near Muqdadiyah. Eight male students were kidnapped, while the female students were allowed to remain on the bus. U.S. forces killed four gunmen. Also, an IED blasted a U.S. convoy.
Five policemen were killed by a roadside bomb in Samarra. The police then randomly fired on a crowd killing two civilians and wounding at least one other. Also, men in police commando uniforms executed a 60-year-old man before burning cars and an apartment.
In Mosul, gunmen shot dead two members of the Assyrian’s Beth-Nahrain Association Union and a journalist in a separate incident. Yesterday, five people were killed and three were wounded during random drive-by shootings. Overnight, gunmen blew up an athletic club. And, gunmen kidnapped a well-known surgeon.
Fourteen militants were killed when the truck bomb they were arming blew up prematurely, in Shurqat.
British positions in Basra came under various attacks overnight, but no injuries were reported.
An Iranian border guard shot an killed a fisherman and injured a second fisherman when they wandered too close to Iranian waters near al-Faw.
Gunmen stormed the home of a border guard in al-Zubair. The guard killed one gunmen before being killed himself.
U.S. forces claimed to have killed two Turkish al-Qaeda suspects in Hawija on Saturday.
Also, an Iraqi translator was killed and three British soldiers were injured during a traffic accident in Missan province.
In Tikrit, gunmen killed an off-duty soldier and wounded his brother. Two bodies and a disembodied head were found separately. A roadside bomb explosion killed two laborers.
Two policemen were injured in Kubaisa when gunmen on motorcycles attacked their checkoint.
