During a quiet news day, 42 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 21 more were wounded during several small incidents. Four American servicemember deaths were reported.
An American soldier was killed today in Diwaniyah during clashes with the Mehdi Army. In Anbar, a Marine was killed conducting combat operations. The U.S. military reported that a soldier died of non-combat related causes on Friday. Also on Friday, a second soldier also died from non-combat related causes.
In Baghdad, U.S. forces killed an al-Qaeda suspect during a raid. Gunmen assassinated the dean of Nahrain college. A tribal chief and his companion were killed in Saidiya. Also, an arrest warrant was issued for a Sunni minister who is accused of ordering an assassination against a fellow Sunni politician. An IED in Baladiyat wounded three civilians. Mortars fell in the Green Zone, but no casualties were reported. Also, 21 dumped bodies were found scattered in the capital.
Five people were killed and 14 others were wounded during clashes in Diwaniyah.
One police officer died and three others were wounded during clashes between gunmen and police in Mada’en.
In Latifiya, two Iraqi soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb blasted their convoy.
And IED injured an Iraqi soldier in Safra village.
In Basra, gunmen assassinated the Imam of al-Arab Mosque.
British forces killed six suspects in Salman Pak.
