At least 123 Iraqis were reported killed or found dead today and another 142 were wounded in violent attacks. Most of them were during a large number of small attacks throughout the country. A series of bombs also killed or wounded dozens in Kirkuk alone. No foreign deaths were reported.
A series of two car bombs and four roadside bombs shook Kirkuk today. At least 18 people were killed and another 50 were wounded. Bombs targeted a government building, a political party headquarters, a commercial street and security patrols. Three more civilians were wounded when a bomb was detonated later in the day.
In Baghdad, a bomb in a plastic bag killed eight and wounded 36 at a mosque downtown near the Shorja marketplace. In a southern neighborhood, a roadside bomb injured four people. Mortars injured four guards at a political office. Five people were injured by mortars falling on Saba a Bour. Four were injured by mortars in Jisr Diyala. One civilian was injured by a roadside bomb in the Saydiya district and another in the Habibya area. Five mortar shells fell on a U.S. base but caused no casualties. Also, 30 bodies were discovered in several neighborhoods mostly on the western side of Baghdad.
Police found 25 decomposed bodies near a post office in Ramadi.
In Iskandariya, a policeman was shot dead. Two separate drive-by shootings on Sunday left a man dead and four others wounded. Also, a woman and her daughter were killed when a mortar round fell on their house.
A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol in Mosul wounded two civilians instead. U.S. forces mistakenly killed a bus driver during clashes today. Clashes that erupted between U.S. forces and gunmen yesterday resulted in one death and injuries to two people.
The mayor of Wasit, Khalaf al-Dalfi, was found dead hours after he was kidnapped.
A policeman was killed and three others were wounded when gunmen attacked a checkpoint in Samarra.
In Dour, a roadside bomb killed an Iraqi soldier and wounded three others.
Gunmen shot one person dead an injured another in Diyala.
A body was found in Mahaweel; the victim had been shot in the head.
A sniper in Tahrir injured a policeman.
Three Iraqi soldiers were wounded during an attack in Khanaquin.
In Balad, two policemen were injured during a roadside bomb explosion. The U.S. military reported that on Thursday gunmen attacked a police station; during the clashes that followed, six people were killed and a civilian wounded.
In Mahmudiya, shelling injured one civilian.
Three civilians in Diyala were injured by a roadside bomb.
A family of refugees were targeted by a roadside bomb which injured three of them as they were driving their moving vehicle through Shamsiya.
Two were killed and another injured during tribal warfare in Hwair.
A guard was killed during a drive-by shooting in Baiji.
A bomb on a bus in dujail killed the driver and injured several passengers.
Suspected al-Qaeda militants damaged two police stations in Dhuluiya, but no casualties were reported.
The Iraqi Army reported killing eight gunmen and arresting 66 Iraqis during security operations over the last 24 hours.
