At least 24 Iraqis were killed and 66 more were wounded in new violence. The worst attack occurred in Anbar province where, as Awakening Council members abandon their security role, attacks have resumed after a relatively peaceful spell. Also, Kitaeb Hezbollah warned of attacks if U.S. troops fail to withdraw at the end of next year.

At least 60 Iraqis were killed and 71 more were wounded in attacks that mostly targeted Awakening Council members. Also, former deputy prime minister Tariq Aziz, who was handed over to Iraqi custody last week, has been hit with new criminal charges.

At least 10 Iraqis were killed and 14 more were wounded in attacks that included two political assassinations of Iraqiya candidates. In Diyala province, meanwhile, relations between Sunni fighters and the Shi’ite council deteriorated after a call to disarm them. Also, Kurdish officials reported another armed incursion into Iraqi Kurdistan by Iranian troops chasing Party For A Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) rebels.

A partial but controversial ballot recount ordered for Baghdad province is raising concerns over election manipulation and pushing Iraq towards instability at a time when politicians should be creating the next government. At least 11 Iraqis were killed and 29 more were wounded in violence across Iraq. Also, a third high-ranking al-Qaeda leader was killed during a raid this morning in northern Iraq.

At least 31 Iraqis were killed and 52 more were wounded during an alarming surge in violence today. In one attack, 13 Iraqis were executed by men who were wearing Iraqi army uniforms. A U.S. soldier died of injuries received in a vehicular accident as well. Meanwhile, a British soldier convicted of a war crime detailed some of the abuses Iraqis were subjected to by his fellow soldiers.

At least 12 Iraqis were killed and 17 more were wounded in the latest attacks. A roadside bomb killed a U.S. soldier in Baghdad. Meanwhile, Gen. George Casey, Army chief of staff, said that thanks to global trends his military plans include keeping U.S. troops in Iraq past the 2012 deadline for withdrawal.

Three U.S. soldiers were killed in a Baghdad attack that left several more wounded. At least 28 Iraqis were killed as well, and another 72 were wounded in other violence. Among them were several Awakening Council fighters who were killed in Kirkuk. Last night’s bombing in Baghdad’s Shula district may have set off this spate of violence. Meanwhile, a U.S. soldier was given a life sentence for the rape of an Iraqi girl and the murder of her and her family.

At least five Iraqis were killed and 12 more were wounded in today’s violence. Meanwhile, a second Sunni leader was arrested in Diyala province, prompting critics to wonder openly if a security operation there is really a harassment campaign against Awakening Council (Sahwa) members and other Sunni leaders. Also, the Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy Tobias Billstrom spoke with Jordanian Interior Minister Saud al-Qadi on the 500,000 Iraqi refugees living in Jordan.
At least 15 Iraqis were killed and 35 more were wounded, mostly in a brazen attack on a group of Awakening Council members in Iskandariya. No Coalition deaths were reported
