War Über Alles
The United States government cannot get enough of war. With Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s regime falling to a rebelling population, CNN reports that a Pentagon spokesman said that the U.S. is looking at all options from the military side.
Allegedly, the Pentagon, which is responsible for one million dead Iraqis and an unknown number of dead Afghans and Pakistanis, is concerned about the deaths of 1,000 Libyan protesters.
While the Pentagon tries to figure out how to get involved in the Libyan revolt, the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific is developing new battle plans to take on China in her home territory. Four-star Admiral Robert Willard thinks the U.S. should be able to whip China in its own coastal waters.
The admiral thinks one way to do this is to add U.S. Marines to his force structure so that the U.S. can eject Chinese forces from disputed islands in the East and South China seas.
It is not the U.S. who is disputing the islands, but if there is a chance for war anywhere, the admiral wants to make sure we are not left out.
The admiral also hopes to develop military ties with India and add that country to his clout. India, the admiral says, "is a natural partner of the United States" and "is crucial to America’s 21st-century strategy of balancing China." The U.S. is going to seduce the Indians by selling them advanced aircraft.
If the plan works out, we will have India in NATO helping us to occupy Pakistan and presenting China with the possibility of a two-front war.
The Pentagon needs some more wars so there can be some more "reconstruction." Reconstruction is very lucrative, especially as Washington has privatized so many of the projects, thus turning over to well-placed friends many opportunities to loot. Considering all the money that has been spent, one searches hard to find completed projects. The just released report from the Commission on Wartime Contracting can’t say exactly how much of the $200 billion in Afghan "reconstruction" disappeared in criminal behavior and blatant corruption, but $12 billion alone was lost to "overt fraud."
War makes money for the politically connected. While the flag-waving population remains proud of the service of their sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, cousins, wives, mothers and daughters, the smart boys who got the fireworks started are rolling in the mega-millions.
As General Smedley Butler told the jingoistic American population, to no avail, "war is a racket." As long as the American population remains proud that their relatives serve as cannon fodder for the military/security complex, war will remain a racket.

Americans have developed a love of militarism. Indeed this hero worship of people whose job it is to kill and destroy stuff has become weird. I have had people who learn that I am a veteran of the Viet-Nam War thank me for my "service". What "service"? It was a needless war that we lost and I am ashamed to have had a part in it. There aren't many public gathering without a Pledge of Allegiance, a public prayer to Jesus, a flourish of flags, a jazzed up version of the national anthem, and maybe, an expensive flyover of military jets. All of this jingoism. Everyone who wears a uniform and carries a gun is revered – military, police, TSA gropers, and all sorts of thuggish "agents". None of this bodes well a nation on the decline.

So true richard vajs. The problem is that the system has brainwashed the American people to such an extent that it's almost useless to point out reality to them. And this happens all over the world, but paradoxically the manipulators have had more success in the US. They had to; otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to invade, butcher and plunder so many countries. The extent of this propaganda's success becomes evident when one sees the parents of these soldiers thanking the government for having killed them!

Come on. These high-ranking military worthies are just doing their job. They were hired for that. Empire-building and keeping themselves relevant goes with the office chair and the "buck stops here" sign on their desk. Can't blame them. I would do it.
You gotta make lots of those jobs redundant. It's the only way.

"Reconstruction is very lucrative, especially as Washington has privatized so many of the projects, thus turning over to well-placed friends many opportunities to loot."
A big step toward winning more of the public over to our side would begin to call the private contractors what they really are: Soldiers of fortune and war profiteers. Calling Eric Prince's crew soldiers of fortune and Dick Cheney a war profiteer will take away any remaining veneer of patriotism or respectability.

I have not problem with displays of nationalism, unfortunately it's just superficial. When it comes to supporting Americans, voting against traitors, buying American products, suddenly patriotism vanishes. But superficility is what America is all about. Put a flag lapel pin on a treasonous moron and suddenly he represents the interest of America (just don't look at his actions).

This agressive cosmopolitanism makes me miss the days when Americans couldn't find Canada on a map. Now everyone knows about all these insignificant countries half around the globe and they support this absurd idea that we've got to be there and get involved…for our own safety.
With the Pentagon stellar record so far in winning wars and rebuilding countries it's no surprise they want to do more… These morons have the distinction of having lost more money than some coutries' entire budgets, and what do they want? More money so a handful of crooks, thugs, lobbyists and assorted scum get more billions. Meanwhile there's no money for broke US cities, states, social security, medicare, etc.

Wm. T. Sherman was correct when he observed that: 'War is all Hell".
Robert E. Lee was wrong when he observed: "It is good that war is so terrible less we grow too fond ot it" – wrong because America has fallen in love with endless wars – of course those who send others off to wear have NEVER fought in any war!

The warfare Uber alles people, facilitated by the token, corporate n.g..r in the white house, have recently been exposed for hiring people from al-qaeda and the Taliban to sew terror and disorder in Pakistan, thereby justifying still more US armed intervention in the region. The murdering dude just seized there, presumably an American diplomat, was there gathering gps data for more drone attacks in Pakistan. He had to kill the Pakistani intelligence people because they were on to him. On this page today is the story about targeting Pakistani diplomats around the world, by CIA assassins. The Pakistanis support the Taliban in Afghanistan because they are also opposed to the Indian influence in the region. India is the recipient of US military aid. The US and India want to guarantee a pipeline from the Caspian to the Indian Ocean. Defending this pipeline would require permanent US bases, on the western side of China, to complement the US naval power off the China coast that is just spoiling for a fight. The arms industrialists and energy people are playing everybody against everybody else. The US is evil; the American worker is being exploited and oppressed in all domestic arenas. This is the triumph of political capitalism. Let's all pray that the US collapses in a gotterdamerung that will leave the rest of the world to live in peace.

The reasons Americans are so fond of war are many but the primary one is the fact that it is not terrible, for us. For the vast majority of Americans war is a painless cost free (the believe) endevour that takes place somewhere else. Generally some place most Americans can't find on a map. Fewer than 2% of Americans now serve in the military. There are millions of US citizens who do not know anyone in the military let alone have family members serving. For most our wars and our occupations of other nations are as real as "Call of Duty 3." Add in the complicty of our media to promote and glorify war and to hide it's true cost is it any wonder that the average American does not hate our imperial adventures.

The most important feature of this column is that the US is preparing for confrontation of a military sort with China. That is insane. We do not need to be number one or number two or number three.
We should be engaging China in a win-win way. That means offers to disarm in the Western Pacific instead of building up our alliances there. China would like to spend the money elsewhere – and will do so if we make it clear that they have nothing to fear from us.
But that is not what we are doing.
We could be living in peace and instead we choose to live in war. What good is that?

no money for the military in win/win situations, John. The general would be out of a job. Heaven forbid that he(and the millions(?) of others) might have to find work that involves life and helping others, rather than death and destruction.

American like to be lied to. The propaganda to instill mindlessness by using happy talk, sociopathic, psychopathic, psychobabble optimism. Mindlessness is parroted by the government, businesses, pretend christians]biblical harlots]with its prosperity, gimme 10%, doctrine of babble institutionalizes mindlessness giving it legitimacy. American do not know to discern thoughts from facts or truths. Jimmy Carter tried a dose of reality and he was rejected for telling the truth,.

Arm India so they can attack Pakistan???? Wow, WWIII is going to be real fun!
Also, the islands this insane general is talking about, offshore from China, are ones claimed by the Imperial Japanese navy. Remember them? This year, Japan decided to keep the US on Okinawa despite voters there voting for the bases to be removed and in return, the US promised to back up Imperial Japanese demands so immediately, Japan told both Russia and China, they wanted all the islands the conquered from 1890-1940!
This is another insane but certain way to launch WWIII. Of course, the US going after Pakistan, China, Russia and North Korea at the same time is suicidal. But then, what was the Japanese Imperial forces, anyway?
Suicidal!

Let us just remember Adolph's last words to his generals before the start of the katjusha's concert in Berlin 1945, conducted by Zhukov.
Adolph said :
….We must relinquish the world supremacy to …(he paused) …(and continued) …THE GREAT NATIONS FROM THE FAR EAST THAT ARE ABOUT TO RISE….
