Impeach Barack Obama
A Challenge to Tea Partiers and Antiwar Liberals
The time has come for those who claim high regard for the U.S. Constitution to show that they mean what they say. The time has come to begin impeachment proceedings against President Barack H. Obama for high crimes and misdemeanors.
The United States has initiated a war against Libya, as Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has conceded. When one country bombs another, which has not attacked it nor posed any immediate threat to it, that is an act of war. No "humanitarian" rationale justifies such an act. Only an act of Congress suffices according to the United States Constitution. Barack Obama has violated that provision of the United States Constitution, which he swore, falsely it is now apparent, to defend and protect. Barack Obama has committed this greatest of impeachable offenses. Other offenses related to torture and violation of the civil liberties of U. S. citizens may emerge as articles of impeachment are drawn up.
Many Tea Party candidates and paleo-conservative and libertarian Republicans, such as Rep. Ron Paul, won office by declaring their high regard for the Constitution. Rep. Paul stated in advance of the attack on Libya that a Congressional declaration of war was necessary according to the provisions of the Constitution before an assault could proceed. If these Republicans do not act now to begin impeachment following the lead of the very principled Dr. Paul, their words meant nothing, and they should be turned out of office.
Similarly antiwar liberals such as Dennis Kucinich backed candidate Barack Obama because of his promises of peace. But President Obama has given us ever more war. His pledge to end the war in Iraq by 2009 turns out to be an empty promise, and he has widened the war in Afghanistan. He has also ordered the bombing of Pakistan, another act of war not authorized by Congress. If such liberals are genuine agents of peace, they too have an obligation to follow the lead of Kucinich who has used the term impeachment with respect to Barack Obama’s behavior to initiate impeachment proceedings. Otherwise they are poseurs, and they should be turned out of office.
Barack Obama can himself be called as the first witness to the hearings on his impeachment, so obvious is his crime. In 2008 as a candidate for the presidency he replied as follows to a question from the Boston Globe’s Charlie Savage.
Savage:" In what circumstances, if any, would the president have constitutional authority to bomb Iran without seeking a use-of-force authorization from Congress? (Specifically, what about the strategic bombing of suspected nuclear sites — a situation that does not involve stopping an IMMINENT threat?)
Obama: "The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation."
High members of his administration agree and might provide ancillary testimony. Vice President Joseph Biden has declared: "The Constitution is clear: except in response to an attack or the imminent threat of attack, only Congress may authorize war and the use of force." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was of the same opinion: "If the country is under truly imminent threat of attack, of course the President must take appropriate action to defend us. At the same time, the Constitution requires Congress to authorize war. I do not believe that the President can take military action – including any kind of strategic bombing – against Iran without congressional authorization."
Barack Obama has further isolated the U.S. in the world by going to war against Libya, contrary to his claims of being a part of a broad international effort. This can only do more damage to our country, bleeding now with so many problems. Consider the vote in UN Security Council. Michael Lind informs us of the demographics and power relationships lying behind the UN vote as follows: "In the vote to authorize war against Libya, the U.S., Britain and France joined by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Gabon, Lebanon, Nigeria, Portugal and South Africa. Abstaining from the vote were five countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and Germany."
"What do the five countries that registered their opposition to the Libyan war have in common? They make up most of the great powers of the early twenty-first century. A few years back, Goldman Sachs identified the so-called "BRIC’s" — Brazil, Russia, India and China — as the most important emerging countries in the world. The opponents of the Libyan war on the Security Council are the BRIC’s plus Germany, the most populous and richest country in Europe."
"Including the United States, the Security Council nations that voted for the no-fly zone resolution have a combined population of a little more than 700 million people and a combined GDP, in terms of purchasing power parity, of roughly $20 trillion. The Security Council countries that showed their disapproval of the Libyan war by abstaining from the vote have a combined population of about 3 billion people and a GDP of around $21 trillion."
"If the U.S. is factored out, the disproportion between the pro-war and anti-war camps on the Security Council is even more striking. The countries that abstained from the vote account for more than 40 percent of the human race. The countries that joined the U.S. in voting to authorize attacks on Libya, including Britain and France, have a combined population that adds up to a little more than 5 percent of the human race."
The situation appears worse the more one regards it. Lebanon’s government controls only part of its territory. Gabon is a statelet with a mere 1.6 million people, smaller than many American cities. And the UN ambassadors of two of the countries who sided with the U.S., Nigeria and South Africa, were not present when the vote was scheduled to be taken. Ambassador Rice had to leave the Security Council chamber, find them and usher them in herself.
Partisan considerations should not impede the move to impeach Barack Obama. When George W. Bush was president, many on the Democratic Party Left called for his impeachment. They must do the same for President Obama who has more clearly violated the Constitution than President Bush since he did not even seek the dubious Congressional "authorization" which George W. Bush asked for and received. If the Left cannot do this, its credibility will be in shambles, and quite deservedly so. On the other side clearly there is reason to indict Bush, and some on the Left are calling for that as are certain authorities in European countries where the former President dare not go. But at the moment Barack Obama is in charge and capable of greater damage if he is not stopped by impeachment. Impeachment of Barack Obama can no longer be avoided.
President Barack Obama has violated the U.S. Constitution and employed the armed forces of the U.S. as a king’s army. The U.S. made its revolution to escape such a predicament, and if this usurper of Congressional authority is not stopped and punished, these crimes will continue under each succeeding executive. This must end and it must end now. Impeachment proceedings must begin at once.

I couldn't agree more! Obama has turned out to be a real tyrant, no exaggeration! He's literally using the US as a tool, doing the bidding with our military for some 3rd party…for their agenda… Off shore banks, the elite New World Order and it's minions! We're in big trouble folks! When the UN is calling the shots, and the Congress has been rendered generally useless… We're in big, big trouble folks!

I'm with you 100%, but it is really an up hill battle. I doubt if it could be done before the primaries start. I think that it is important that by then we field "left-right alliance against the wars " candidates in the primaries to challenge Obama and all Republicans and Democrats who let him continue and start these wars. I think that Kucinich and Paul people should get together locally and hash out a platform on the local level. We should put together a website where they can meet each other.

Please do not call the "Dem Party Left" the Left. The true left–the communists and socialists–is anti-imperialist. The Dems are not Left. They are a ruling-class party and have been imperialist since at least Woodrow Wilson.

The time is over for Obama and his Liberal ally who he used and abused to get where he is today..,
A president making sure that there is a war under his name.., this president like many other president., in US history been lying to its own people about promises he made before being elected. He is weak as every other left leaned Liberals.., but you have to give them credit when they start talking.., they are good at that, but when it comes to practical matters.., that’s another story., I don’t even think that he knows the principals in democracy nor he would respect the meaning in democracy.., otherwise he would have kept his promise and instigate them by now. Now that he has war under his belt I am sure that he Like George W. Bush will write a book and have a library in his name too.., getting paid over a quarter of million dollars per year and have a office of his own paid by the people.., here I definitely think he shouldn’t get paid and no benefits because he lied to people and got his Nobel peace price that he can live with.

That's right on. Wilson was a rich, right wing, racist backed by the banks and war merchants who hated the Left and put Debs and other lefties in jail simply for making speeches. The Dems are complete worthless frauds (as are Justin's Tea Party). They will not impeach their Nobel Peace Prize mad bomber/torturer but it would be great to see a grassroots people power call for impeachment from the people in the streets.

Absolutely correct. There is nothing remotely "leftist" about either of the US political parties. The misuse of the terms right and left are just examples of the politically motivated corruption of language that was written about by George Orwell. Oh, and Orwell was a socialist, by the way, and knew whereof he spoke.

Sadly – the idiots and morons, crooks and thieves, TRAITORS, incompetents that fill our US Congress will NOT support the US Consitution – instead, they support 'king' Obama and they continue to fund illegal unnecessary wars – and all are complicit in the war crimes being committed by Obama!
The 'Republic' and 'Democracy' are long dead in America – the members of Congress NO longer represent the people of America.
We need a regime change! YES – Obama needs to be impeached and removed from office – and nearly all members of the Congress need to be voted out of office.

The question we have to ask ourselves is this: if impeachment proceedings are not initiated against Obama, for the many reasons laid out above (and more, I'm sure), what are we prepared to do about it? Are we content to just sit back and say, "Oh well" and leave it at that? Are we content to sit back and tell ourselves we'll vote the cowards out of office next time?
As is the case for many government misdeeds, I suspect our collective reaction will be APATHY. As long as I get my paycheck- or welfare check, as the case may be- and as long as the drama in Washington doesn't pre-empt 'Dancing With The Stars' everything will be just peachy.
What will it take for Americans to take to the streets in protest- I mean REALLY take to the streets in force, with purpose? When will the American public say in one unified voice, "ENOUGH!!" and have our own 'Tahrir Square' moment? Will it happen non-violently, in the best tradition of Gandhi's program of non-violent resistance to the British, or will it happen like Libya with the protest moving to the 'rifles in the streets' stage from the beginning? Will it happen with the feisty leader of a home-grown armed resistance taking charge and kicking some butts?
I suspect this: It will not happen. At all. The American public is too timid to do much of anything on its own, and too scared of The Establishment to take any real risks. We've been mollycoddled by the nanny state for so long we don't know what it's like to have a real opinion, or get motivated to enforce real progress in our nation, or hold our elected officials' feet to the fire when they misrepresent us.
So who's got the moral high ground now? Is it the stay-at-home American who just does as he's told and is a Model Citizen, or the Egyptian who took to the streets to overthrow an unjust government- many times in the face of mortal danger?
America needs a Gandhi, and a Tahrir Square. We need them desperately, and right now.

Who are we.., as you put it.., Are you one of them who supports Muslims Brotherhood which are financed by Saudis Kingdome whom started this mess in Libya.., trying to divide Libya into countries which it would easy for EU and US to steal the Libyan people wealth.., Look brotherhood.., Saudis are the worst enemy of peace in Entire Middle East.., they are the one which protect Israel, they are the one which supports US wars in Middle East.., they are the one who give their blessing to Bush and their European friends Tony Blair to invade Afghanistan and later Iraq. They are the one who are protected by US and for that they give back to US and invest in US, therefore US and EU wont do anything about Bahraini situation.., so who are we…? Or lets put it this way.. Who are you.., brotherhood trying to lecture people on a falsified terminology.

This article should be published in an abridged version in every newspaper. Aren't there some people with money in this country who are interested in politics and care about this country? Isn't the Kochtopus anti-Obama? Why won't they or their like buy pages on newspapers? I don't understand this utter uninvolvement of those who have money, and thus power. Instead of just lobbying for their corporate interests and talking about politics, they should put their money where their mouth is and act.

What a great article.
Lets now see if a SINGLE so called elected official will have the guts to act against the Tyrant in the White House.
America is supposed to be the "Land of Freedom and Opportunity " but he citizens of the United States today are gutless covering sorry excuses for human beings who allow their Leaders to murder innocent peoples in other countries with no accounting for their actions.
One day these Tyrants may turn on their own people and start killing US Citizens – in fact they already do — what then???

1- We can not ask a criminal to prosecute another one.., simply the matter becomes illegal.., if Obama was democrat and wanted to implement the principals in democracy functioning.., he would have kept his promises when democrats hade the majority in both houses.., for one stop the Afghanistan and Iraq occupation.., prosecute Bush and Cheney and others.., in another word they all are in the making for democracy not being functioned .., if democracy would function then there is no other choice for them to nationalize anything that has everything to do with what has been the reasons for all that wars.

2- Closing the doors at the face of AIPC and others.., It is not about the emperor or imperialism.., people have past that time.., is about how emperor survives the next crises.., therefore there is no other alternative for democrats and alike to negotiate with Muslims Brotherhood – Saudis and Kuwaitis Kingdome help the emperors both in US and EU to survive., such politics has been the reasons for emperor being a double moral, double faced and having a double language but a functioning democracy to home or in their foreign policies. Yet there is a chance for EU and US to start the final days of mankind by starting third world war.., as stupid as they are it wouldn’t surprise me.

Did I say ANYTHING about the Muslim Brotherhood, or the Saudi's? No!
My entire post was directed squarely at the President of the United States and his usurpation of power, and the reaction I expect his actions will get from the American public. I assume you actually took the time to read my post? Or do you just assume that since I'm commenting in relation to this story that I'm automatically a supporter of the MB and the Saudi's?
I know full well the intent of the West with regard to the Middle East, and I think it's deplorable that we value oil over human life, regardless of where that person or persona are located.
Now, tell me what you saw in my post that indicated IN ANY WAY where my political loyaties are directed. Tell me what you saw in my post that indicated IN ANY WAY that I support the Saudi's or their collusion with the West.
The fact that I am, and publicly declare myself as, a Muslim has no bearing whatsoever on some 'automatic loyalty' to anything. I call it as I see it. If the US government is doing wrong, I will call them out on it. If the Muslim Brotherhood is doing something wrong, I will call them out on it- just as I do the Saudi's, the Egyptians, the Libyans, the Mexicans, the Canadians, the Israelis or what have you.
In the future, please read my commentary before assuming anything about it- and even then if you have a question, ASK before you assume anything.

Sorry to raise this matter again but the precedent has been set.
We are still waiting for the Congressional approval for the illegal attack on Yugoslavia.
That illegal act didn't even have a security council mandate.
When no one had the integrity or the genuine constitutional concern to bring the Clinton administration to account for the same sin you lay ay Barry Soetoro's door, that is waging war without congressional approval, the cat was let out of the bag.
NATO was unleashed and the USA has bombed and murdered its way around the planet ever since.
Clinton cold bloodedly bombed a defenceless civilian population for 78 days and nights based on a CIA false flag op, 'Racak' and even bigger fibs than the dodgy dossier of Tony Bliar.
So far the dodgy President Soetoro has not surpassed his Democratic predecessor in bloodshed.
Clinton demolished a nation. Mind you so did Bush.
However like Soetoro they are all neoliberal neocons – one party actually.
Neither the USA or Britain are democracies – just one party states, controlled by a nasty people occupying the western side of Palestine.

Progress is not possible thru electoral politics. We have to change the mentality of the whole broad electorate. This is not optional, with all the nukes sitting around, primed for launch. I don't know how we are going to do this, honestly. Raising my 2nd teenager I recognize the pattern –People not only can't understand but they actively resist anything that they don't want to hear.

I agree. Obama has crossed the line, by starting a war. There are bright lines, that are very clear. War is a last resort. It is ONLY allowed as self defense, under several treaties signed by the United States. There is NO QUESTION about these things, like, what is the definition of war, what is the definition of self defense. Obama is a lawyer. He cannot pretend to be ignorant. He has proven to be QUITE EVIL, and deliberate lawbreaker. Presidents are required to obey Treaties under Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution GO READ IT. "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

While I agree with some parts of it, overall the article makes a pretty weak argument. Yes, Obama has been a huge disappointment for those of us who thought he was going to "change the mindset that gets us into wars." Obviously, he was speaking with forked tongue on that one. We can spare no effort in forcing him to abandon his tilt toward imperialist domination.
We need to be out of Iraq and Afghanistan yesterday. I made the trek multiple times to Washington to protest the Iraq war and helped maintain a vigil in my local area for over six years. But on Libya, I would be more concerned if we had not intervened. Gaddafi is a brutal tyrant who would have massacred thousands if the international effort had not stopped him in his tracks. One of the greatest failings of leadership was when the Clinton Administration stood by and allowed 800,000 Rwandans to be slaughtered. Would Walsh have called for impeachment if Clinton had managed to avert that genocide?
The UN Security Council vote actually showed remarkable support for intervention in Libya. By abstaining, or not vetoing in the case of Russia and China, those countries were signaling their tacit approval. If Russia and China had been that opposed, they most certainly would have cast vetoes. They are now able have it both ways. They did not want to be accused of giving the green light for a Gaddafi massacre, which would surely have taken place. But it allows them to take pot shots at the countries conducting the operation.
Characterizing the abstaining countries as "anti-war" is probably the weakest part of Walsh's article, bordering on simplistic.

The President is the only adult in the room. Libyan protesters were in the streets seeking freedom and Democracy and were fired upon by Gaddafi military which started the revolution as the protesters were protecting themselves. Gaddafi forces and hired hand killers only a few miles from the protesters killing anyone and everyone in sight. The came the UN forces les by the US to save the people of Libya most of them unarmed. President Obama deserves more than the Nobel Peace Prize. He is a brave and true President. We finally have a President.. Time was a factor here and I wished the US and UN would have gone in sooner but the President wanted this to be a united effort which includes many nations including Arab nations. He was very
right and correct. It was the right way to go in the long run. This was not an attack on Libya. This actions was to protect Libya. The Gaddafi forces attacked Libya. He attacked his own people.

A group of us have been discussing the best way to restore our once great Republic and a consensus of opinion is as follows. The quickest, easiest and most efficient way to get rid of Obamacare is for either a House or Senate Committee to have a hearing to verify that he is qualified to hold the office of President.
Simply call the hearing, notify the governor and other officials of Hawaii, and the directors of the two hospitals to show up and bring with them all appropriate documents. Also, notify the administrators of the schools to appear with all of the records pertaining to him. You know, you are an attorney, "Duces tecum".
No court cases, no appeals, no delay tactics, because Congress holds hearings all the time and no one, including any court, has the power to stop them.
Congress vetted John McCain over being born in Panama, but did nothing about Obama.
Vote to declare him unqualified and everything he has done during the past two years goes away, along with Sotomeyer and Kagan.
Please let me know your position in this matter so our veteran group discussion can be informed.
