Goading Gullible America Into War
As President Obama departed for Israel, there came a startling report. Bashar Assad’s regime had used poison gas on Syrian rebels.

Two Israeli Cabinet members claimed credible evidence. Justice Minister Tzipi Livni said, “It’s clear for us that (gas is) being used. … This … should be on the table in the discussions.”
Yet, 72 hours later, the United States still cannot confirm that gas was used, and Syria and Russia have called on U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to investigate whether it was used, and if so, by whom.
What’s going on here?
It does not require Inspector Clouseau to surmise this may be a fabrication to stampede the ever-gullible Americans into plunging into Syria to win the war for the al-Qaida-saturated Syrian rebels.
But sucking America into Syria’s civil war is only a near-term goal for the War Party, which is after larger game — greasing the skids for a U.S. war on Iran.
And lest we underestimate the War Party, the likelihood is they will get their war. For they have already gotten Obama to make concessions that are steering us inexorably toward such a war.
First, Obama was persuaded to declare it U.S. policy that, where Iran’s uranium-enrichment program is concerned, “All options are on the table!” Translation: Absent major concessions by Iran, proving she is not seeking a nuclear weapon, war against Iran is in the cards.
Yet, even as Obama parrots the mantra, “All options are on the table,” he has been persuaded to take off the table the option that won the Cold War, the George Kennan option of containment and deterrence.
Obama has been goaded into proclaiming that though America contained an evil empire that spanned 13 time zones and possessed thousands of nukes, containment cannot work with Iran.
Why not? Because the ayatollah, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the mullahs, we are solemnly instructed, are religious fanatics who could easily opt for committing collective suicide should they get a bomb — by using that bomb on us.
This, of course, is to attribute to Iran’s leaders an insanity they have never exhibited. Not in memory has Iran started a war. Saddam attacked Iran, not the other way around. When the Vincennes shot down an Iranian airliner, Ayatollah Khomeini himself ordered the Iraq war ended for fear America was about to intervene on Baghdad’s side.
Now we come to the sinister role of the U.S. Senate in setting the table for war. Consider what Senate Joint Resolution 65, crafted at AIPAC, the Israeli Lobby, and now being shopped around for signing by Sen. Lindsey Graham and Sen. Robert Menendez, does.
SR 65 radically alters U.S. policy by declaring it to be “the policy of the United States … to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons capability and to take such action as may be necessary to implement this policy.”
Obama’s policy — no nuclear weapons in Iran — is tossed out. Substituted for it in SR 65 is Bibi Netanyahu’s policy — “no nuclear weapons capability” in Iran.
Now, as Iran already has that “capability” — as does Germany, Japan, South Korea and other nations who have forsworn nuclear weapons — what SR 65 does is authorize the United States to attack Iran — to stop her from what she is doing now. Yet, according to all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, Iran does not have a nuclear bomb program.
Critically, SR 65 goes further and “urges that if the Government of Israel is compelled to take military action in self-defense, the United States Government should … provide diplomatic, military and economic support to the Government of Israel in its defense of its territory, people and existence.”
Translation: Should Bibi attack Iran, the Senate urges the U.S. military to join in that attack. SR 65 is a blank check to Bibi to go to war with Iran, with a U.S. Senate commitment to join him.
Coupled with House Resolution 850, which calls for crushing new sanctions, SR 65 is designed to so enrage and humiliate Iran that her delegates walk out of negotiations — and war inevitably ensues.
Here then is War Party calendar and countdown.
First, rule out containment and deterrence of Iran, though that policy won the Cold War. Second, rule in a U.S. war on Iran if Tehran does not yield to all our demands in nuclear negotiations.
Third, ensure the negotiations fail by repeated insults, threats, sanctions, and intolerable demands that so humiliate the Iranians that, enraged, they say “to hell with it” and walk out of the talks.
Then, by default, the last “option” left for dealing with Iran — even if she still has not tested a bomb or enriched uranium to bomb grade — will be U.S. air strikes on Fordow and Natanz, cheered on by a War Party that dreams of this day and that war.
Preventing another generation of war dead delivered to Dover should be the first priority of American patriots.

The Western economies will be destroyed. People will be very poor. Everything will cost 5 X more as gas goes up 5 times. The economy will be like 1932 as one Chicago-Professor pointed out on these pages. They know that, of course, all for the benefit of the 1% richest and they own the propaganda, even more effectively than Dr Med et Phil Joseph Goebbels. They are stupid bloody fools in the Pentagon that they think they can get away with 1-3 % casualties following a Disarming First Strike with the missiles in Romania, Poland and on USS Monterey to take out the missile silos not hit by Minuteman-3 and Trident-2. For that reason the MX warhead was put on Minuteman-3, to minimize nuclear winter effects if used against missile silos, like the warhead on Trident-2. They are just too stupid to understand that the result is Launch On Warning, a point of no return, probably by 2017, then we are doomed to Suicide. Bloody fools in the Pentagon, as General Harbottle stated, for that same reason. The great missile engineer Bob Aldridge -www.plrc.org-resigned because it´s suicidal to replace MAD with a Disarming First-Strike Capability.

According to missile engineer Bob Aldridge -www.plrc.org-the US Navy can track and destroy all enemy submarines simultaneously. Nuclear Empire, ch. 9. NAVSTAR, now called GPS, was developed for Minuteman-3 and Trident-2 to be able to hit missile silos accurately. Bob Aldridge wrote a 6-page article on Minuteman-3 as a-state-of-the-art first strike weapon. Like Trident-2. That warhead is also designed to minimize nuclear winter effects if used against missile silos according to Professor Paul Rogers.

Bob Aldridge -www.plrc.org-on the European Phased Adaptive Approach (EPAA), the missiles in Romania, Poland and on USS Monterey in the Mediterranean Sea (sometimes in the Black Sea): "Whether they are on ships or land, they are still a necessary component for an unanswerable first strike." The missiles will be deployed by 2018 and result in Launch On Warning by 2017. More info: claus eric/antiwar.com esp. interview with Ray McGovern May 07, 2012 + comments.

It has never been about nuclear arms of Iran but always about regime change. The ayatollahs had the temerity to overthrow the regime of our lapdog in Iran, the Shah of Iran. A new lapdog must be installed by hook or by crook or by bombing.

The White House has become a nut house as the psychopaths, both English and Hebrew speaking, do as they wish. Meanwhile, the entranced masses do exactly as they have been pogramed to do. But hey, that's human nature.

The word according to the Arab street "America is Israel's bitch"….Cause unless there is a genuine recognition of the folly and consequences of the Iraq fiasco, it will be repeated over again and again–with the same disasterous outcome.
It makes no difference what party is in power at the White House or on Capitol Hill. President Obama was swept into office in 2008 on the mandate to end the war party rule of the Bush-Cheney era. Once in office, President Obama found that the unitary executive powers were too awesome to repudiate.
He has continued on the path set for him by the likes of Paul Wolfowitz, who once told General Wesley Clark that the United States had one or two decades to overthrow the governments of Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya. Sudan and Somalia–before an emerging rival power like China challenged the American global military hegemony.
In essence then the Wolfowitz grand plan following Bibi's Clean Break proposal is still in effect.

A truly alarming piece by Mr Buchanan. However, I'm not quite as pessimistic as those who have already posted for the following reasons (partial list): 1) This a.m. I watched a small portion of President Obama's speech to Israeli students in which he was cheered for supporting a Palestinian state. Don't discount his unique ability to really work a crowd. and affect public opinion. 2) It is encouraging that Netanyahu lost seats in their recent election and that our war party has also lost ground. 3) I think much of what Obama said about our 'eternal' relationship with Israel was dipolmatic speak. No way can he rebuke them publicly, especially on Israeli soil. Who knows what is going on behind closed doors. 4) Most of the world is against our Mideast actions. Will we really start bombing Iran if Russia and China remain strongly against it?

It has become obvious to me that the US and the world would have been much better off if McCain had ridden off into the sunset after his 2008 defeat. It's doubtful if wimpy Graham would have had the courage to be so out front without McCain directing him, and maybe the press would not be covering his every stupid utterance. I still think that Pres Obama is at heart a peacemaker despite some major first term mistakes. He is politically stronger now and is playing for the history books. If he can find a way to finesse this explosive situation, he will really deserve the Nobel Peace Prize that was given prematurely.

Before the undiagnosed Global Empire drives to war in Iran, we all need to consider this evidence of the evil of Empire:
Amy's "Democracy Now" show today (3/22) exposing the crimes of Col. Steele, Rumsfeld, Bush, and by extension, Obama, in torture and international war crimes has now infected not just the White House and the Presidency (as was said of Nixon), but has exposed the entire facade of this disguised Global EMPIRE — which is only posing as our former country.
This is the post that I submitted to the New York Times regarding their op-ed today, "Obama's Nixonian Precedent" (which may or may not be censored), but which I will continue posting everywhere I can in the US media:
"With the international exposure and release of irrefutable evidence, based on Bradley Manning, and Wikileaks and the subsequent documentary film "James Steele; America's Mystery Man in Iraq" now shown on US TV "Democracy Now" (as well as throughout European TV networks) not only Obama, but also Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, and the entire political regime of this disguised Global Empire will soon have something to "Look forward to rather than back" — as Obama, infamously says.
They, the front-men of this Empire, will certainly be "Looking Forward" to — prosecution for international war crimes by the International Criminal Court — just as the senior figures of the Nazi Empire did.
Although their prosecution may have to be 'in absentia' (because this Empire refuses to join the "community of nations" in recognizing the ICC), the political leaders of this disguised Global Empire, this corporate/financial/militarist/legal/media and political Global Empire, which has 'captured' and now fully "Occupies" our former country by hiding behind the facade of its modernized TWO-Party 'Vichy' sham of faux-democratic and totally illegitimate government — just as surely as the earlier Nazi EMPIRE tried less successfully to do behind its crude single-party Vichy regime in 'captured' and "Occupied' France c. 1940.
Yes, President (and faux-Emperor) Obama, we all now are "Looking Forward rather than back"! [end quote]
Best luck and love to the fast expanding 'Occupy the Empire' educational and revolutionary movement against this deceitful, guileful, disguised EMPIRE, which can't so easily be identified as wearing Red Coats, Red Stars, nor funny looking Nazi helmets —- quite yet!

I suppose that was a typo (above) but what a freudian slip – the masses do exactly as they have been "pogramed" to do – only instead of persecuting the Jews (usual meaning) its now the Muslims, esp. the Palestinians. Aaahh, dear friends, you must realize that the irony of chosenness (and it's kissing cousin, exceptionalism) carries with its superiority complex yin the evil twin yang of fear and persecution that will never be relieved, unless 1) all the world bows down, or 2) they are sytematicaly destroyed. There is no middle ground.

Imagine what a mess the whole of Europe would have been in had Israel goaded us into a war with the former Soviet Union. But they would never have done that, because although Stalin had been a paranoid about Jews, the real oppression was long in the past, sleeping with the bones of the Czar and his hapless family.
That's why we could do containment – it wasn't something anyone else wanted to mess with.
I'm not sure the Israelis are quite sane at the moment. I cannot imagine a war with Iran being to their long-term advantage, unless it is merely to allow them to finish off the Palestinians in peace, without any intervention. That seems pretty creepy, but after Sabra and Shatila, which they watched, I don't know. I think we must find their true motivation, and in doing so, understand why they want to get us into a new quagmire which will split our country as never before (unless someone can provide another 9/11 attack to unite us in nonpartisan bloodthirsty action against an otherwise inoffensive people – to us). What sort of motivation and what sort of provocation – those are the questions.

Gullible Americans? Sorry Pat, the proper adjective should be Criminal, not Gullible.
You are a democracy you keep cramming down our throats, all are responsible for the death and destruction your politicians and military cause around the world to protect the shi**y little state. Hell, a majority of Murikans cheered their "brave" soldiers bomb and destroy lives and countries. Blood thirsty demons I say, not gullible for sure.
The only reason they are very slowly turning against wars is because their pockets are getting empty.
