At least 45 people were killed and 127 more were wounded. Shi’ite “volunteers” sustained the greatest loses in several northern towns. The Kurds referred to them as being part of the old Badr Brigade. It is unclear if they actually were part of the Badr Organization or just Shi’ite volunteers from the region.
Government forces could be nearing their goal of liberating Tikrit, which would be a great psychological win, if true. At least 197 were killed and 37 more were wounded across Iraq.
At least 77 people were killed and 23 more were wounded. Some of these victims were killed during a massacre last week. Meanwhile, Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani asked lawmakers to hurry building the new government in order to help reduce the chaos across the country.
