Tuesday: 15 Iraqis Killed, 27 Wounded

Updated at 8:27 p.m. EDT, Apr. 7, 2009 U.S. President Obama made a secret visit to Iraq today and declared that there is “still a lot of work to do.” In Baghdad, bombings continued to rock the city. At least 15 Iraqis were killed and 27 more were wounded there and throughout the country. Meanwhile, shoe-lobbing journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi saw his sentence for tossing his shoes at former U.S. President Bush reduced to one year from three.

Monday: 1 US Soldier, 45 Iraqis Killed; 176 Iraqis Wounded

Updated at 8:25 p.m. EDT, Apr. 6, 2009 At least 45 people were killed and 1765 more were wounded across the country. Baghdad suffered a devastating series of car bombings this morning, while Mosul was unusually quiet. In Diyala province, a U.S. soldier was killed by hostile fire during operations. Also, jury selection has begun in the United States for the trial of a U.S. soldier accused of murdering an Iraqi family while deployed.

Meanwhile, the president of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, is in Iraq. No Coalition deaths were reported, but a U.S. soldier was taken into custody and charged with the murder of a contractor last month.
