Iraq Attacks Continue into March: 70 Killed, 50 Wounded

At least 70 people were killed and 50 more were wounded in today’s attacks. Meanwhile, the United Nations, Iraqi government and Agence France-Presse released their casualty figures for February. All three found that more than 700 people were killed in Iraq during the month — not counting militants. Including those militants, Antiwar found that at least 1700 people were likely killed.

Iraq Assaults Leave 67 Dead, 36 Wounded

At least 67 people were killed and 36 more were wounded in today’s violence. Many of the dead were militants; however not all of them were killed in Anbar province. Also, Turkish security forces and Kurdish rebels traded fire across the border, but no casualties were reported.

57 Militants Killed in Iraq Ops, 2 Others Wounded

At least 57 militants were killed today, but the number is likely higher. As it is the prayer day, reports may have been thinner than usual. There were clashes in Anbar but only one death was reported there. An Iraqi soldier and a child were wounded in attacks. Also, Iraqi troops have ended their weeklong assault on militants who took over the town of Suleiman Bek in Salah ad Din province.
