Iraq Clashes and Bombers Kill 39, Wounded 41 More

At least 39 people were killed today in Iraq, while another 41 were wounded. Outside of the Anbar war zone, the deadliest place was Mosul where a number of suicide bombers were killed or blew themselves up.

Massive Bombing near Baghdad; 97 Killed 237 Wounded Across Iraq

Attacks left 97 dead and 237 wounded across Iraq today. The worst attack occurred south of Baghdad. Local officials blamed the attack on the situation in neighboring Anbar province. Militants still control sections of two major cities there and have staged attacks in nearby provinces.

The violence tapered off slightly today, the prayer day, but at least 42 people were still killed and 62 more wounded. Shelling in Falluja and a bombing at a market in the north left the most casualties.

At least 82 people were killed and 176 were wounded across Iraq today. Most of the casualties were civilians. A series of bombings once again took place in Baghdad province, but there were significant blasts in nearby cities as well.

A series of bombings once again rocked Baghdad, while fighting and shelling continued in Anbar province. Celebratory gunfire after a soccer victory may have given cover to some of the attacks. Also, Indian tourists were attacked in the east. The casualty figures for today are 53 dead and 106 wounded overall.

Gunmen Attack Samarra Council; 42 Killed, 74 Wounded Across Iraq

Militants staged an attacked north of Baghdad in the city of Samarra. They were able to hold the local city council building, but were eventually overcome. At least 42 people were killed and 74 more were wounded across the country.

At least 97 people were killed, and 45 others were wounded across Iraq today. The number of militants killed was, at 82 dead, remarkably high again; however, that figure cannot be independently confirmed.

At least 131 people were killed and 48 other were wounded in fresh violence. Most of the attacks resulted in few casualties, but there there were many attacks. Also, scores of militants were killed near Mosul.
