Iraq: Brigadier General Wounded in Attacks That Also Leave 24 Dead

The violence tapered off today, at least around Baghdad. Today’s attacks focused, instead, on Mosul. At least 24 people were killed in them, and another 23 were wounded.

In Mosul, a suicide bomber killed one soldier and wounded 10 more, including a brigadier general. Four soldiers were killed in a roadside blast. A shop owner was gunned down. Another person was also shot dead. Several people were also wounded in a shooting. A car bomb wounded three civilians. Security forces killed a would-be suicide bomber at a checkpoint.

Two people were killed and five more were wounded in a roadside bombing in Tarmiya.

Gunmen killed two employees at a shrine in Muqdadiya.

In Basra, two people were shot dead in separate attacks. Two bodies were discovered in a deserted area.

Two policemen were killed and another was wounded in a bombing in Hammam al-Alil.

In Falluja, an insurgent was killed and another was wounded during a raid. A gunman was killed during an attack on a police commander.

A roadside bomb killed one policeman and wounded another in Ramadi.

A civilian was gunned down in Kut.

Police in Abu Saida killed a gunman.

A roadside blast in Shirqat wounded two people.
