Saturday: 4 Iraqis Killed, 1 Wounded

At least four Iraqis were killed and one more was wounded in light violence. Meanwhile, the Iraqi government and other organizations released year-end casualty tallies.

According to official reports from several Iraqi ministries, the number of civilians and security personnel killed in Iraq during 2010 was 3,605 or about 124 more than last year. Iraq Body Count also released a figure, and it was a higher 4,008 deaths. The Iraqi Observatory of Rights & Constitutional Freedoms offered an even higher figure of 4,560 deaths.

In Baghdad, gunmen killed a police officer and his driver during a shooting on a the Muhammed Al-Qassem highway.

A bomb at an official’s home in Baquba wounded him and killed his wife.

A soldier died from wounds received during an attack on Tal Afar on Monday, and a suspect was captured.

Mortars fell in and around Garma, but no casualties were reported.
