Friday: 1 US Soldier, 5 Iraqis Killed; 12 Iraqis Wounded

At least five Iraqis were killed and 12 more were wounded in prayer day violence. Also, a U.S. soldier died in Baghdad on Wednesday after an accident that is under investigation.

In Mosul, two civilians were killed and four more were wounded in an I.E.D. blast. Two soldiers and an officer were wounded in a separate blast. A car bomb near police headquarters wounded three civilians.

Two Iraqi soldiers were killed and two more were wounded when Katyusha rockets struck Missan province’s operations command at al-Batiera airport.

A sticky bomb killed an Awakening Council member in Baquba.

Twelve suspects were arrested in Diyala province. Army forces released a tribal leader after acquitting him of charges.

In Turkey, two police officers were wounded in a rocket attack. Separately, seven people were detained.
