At least 27 Iraqis were killed and 28 more were wounded in the latest attacks. Cholera continues in the headlines; however, conflicting numbers have made it difficult to judge the extent of the epidemic. No Coalition deaths were reported.
In Baghdad, three people were killed and three more were wounded when a bomb in eastern Baghdad blasted a minibus carrying civil servants. A car bomb killed one person and wounded three more in Doura. In Habibiya, three policemen were wounded in a targeted explosion. One dumped body was found. Also, 42 suspects were detained.
Gunmen killed five family members during a home invasion in Saidiya. Five people were killed and two more wounded when gunmen attacked a group of young men.
In Mosul, two people were killed and seven more were wounded when a bomb was detonated outside a mosque. Gunmen killed a family of three during a home invasion in eastern Mosul. Two bodies were discovered. Although attacks have significantly dropped off, Mosul remains one of the most violent areas in Iraq.
A sheikh and his son were killed when gunmen stormed their Khalis home.
Another eight wounded were reported after a bombing yesterday in Karbala.
Iraq commandos killed one inmate and wounded two others who were attempting an escape from a Babil prison.
In Rutba, two suicide bombers were killed before they could detonate their explosives.
U.S. forces captured five wanted men and 13 suspected associates across central and northern Iraq.
Four “special groups” suspects were captured in Kut.
A detention center in Basra has shut down because the inmates were transferred elsewhere.
In Suwayra, a huge weapons cache was discovered.
Also, flooding near the Iranian border killed at least three people and washed away over 100 homes.
