27 Killed in Iraq as Militias Demand More Funding

by | Nov 20, 2015 | 0 Comments

Hoping for more funding next year, Iraq’s militias are instead learning that Baghdad wants to cut payouts to these paramilitary forces over shrinking oil revenues. How that will affect the fight against Islamic State forces is unknown. There are also other political issues Baghdad must take into account.

At least 27 were killed and 13 were wounded across Iraq:

In Baghdad, a bomb killed one person and wounded five more near shops in the Dawra neighborhood. In Amin, a blast at a market killed one person and wounded eight more, while police found a dumped body. Gunmen killed a civilian.

Militants killed a government official from the nationality department in Nineveh province.

In Anbar province, militants executed five men accused of spying.

Security forces killed eight militants in Mkesheifa.

Five militants were killed in Samarra.

Three militants were killed in Husayba al-Sharqiya.

In Iskandariya, a militant was killed when the bomb he was planting exploded.
