Iraqi Kurdistan Prepares For Protests; 3 Killed in Attacks

Iraqi Kurdistan prepared for mass protests on the anniversary of deadly demonstrations, but only the arrests of two journalists were reported. Meanwhile, at least three Iraqis were killed and five more were wounded.

Two journalists were arrested in Suleimaniya as they tried to cover increased military operations. Today marks one year since deadly protests took place in Kurdistan. Expecting an outbreak of violence, authorities deployed extra personnel; however, no violence was reported.

In Mosul, gunmen killed a civilian.

One soldier was killed and another was wounded during clashes in Hadba.

A policeman was killed during an attack on his home in Khalis.

Gunmen attacked a home in Mandali, where they wounded a man and his son.

In Arab Jabour, one blast wounded a policeman. A second bomb destroyed a policeman’s home, but left no casualties.

One of three I.E.D.s discovered in Shirqat blew up, wounding one soldier.
