Saturday: 11 Iraqis Killed, 16 Wounded

At least 11 Iraqis were killed and 16 more were wounded in today’s attacks.

Six people were killed and five more were wounded during a jailbreak in Hilla. It began when a prisoner was able to get hold of a rifle from a guard and kill him. Twenty detainees are known to have escaped. Several guards and detainees are under investigation. A related fire destroyed sections of the prison.

Three blasts targeting Abu Risha stadium in Ramadi left two dead and seven wounded.

In Baghdad, gunmen killed a goldsmith and his son outside their Doura home.

A double bombing near a petrol station in Mussayab wounded three people.

A sniper killed a policeman in Madaen.

A thermal bomb was tossed at a U.S. patrol in Kirkuk. Another bomb wounded a policeman.

In Hawija, the Islamic State of Iraq is alleged to have distributed leaflets threatening to kill 29 people who worked with security forces.

Hand grenades tossed at a U.S. patrol in Baiji set one vehicle on fire. U.S. helicopters then arrived at the scene.

A bomb planted near the home of an imam in Najaf was defused.

A bomb was defused in Tuz Khormato.

Six suspects were arrested in Diyala province.

Hundred demonstrated in Tal Afar again, demanding the release of detainees.
