The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) rejected election fraud claims from a member of the European Parliament. Separately, Former P.M. Ayad Allawi emphasized he would not accept the continuation of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s "one-man rule" in the new government. Many of Maliki’s opponents have called the prime minister a dictator or otherwise criticized his heavy-handed rule.

In Baghdad, gunmen killed a soldier. A vacationing policeman was killed in Doura. A bomb in Tarmiyah wounded one civilian. One civilian was wounded in a northern Baghdad blast.
In Mosul, a bomb killed an Iraqi soldier and wounded three others. A Christian-man was killed.
Gunmen in Nahda killed two civilians and wounded a third.
Two bodies bearing gunshot wounds were fund in Nimrod.
The body of a young farmer was discovered in Assriya.
